Dental Nightguards
A dental nightguard, also known as an occlusal splint or bite guard, is a removable dental appliance used to protect teeth from grinding or clenching during sleep. It is a custom-made device that fits over the teeth, providing a barrier between the upper and lower jaws. Nightguards are typically made of a durable, flexible material such as acrylic or thermoplastic.
Nighttime teeth grinding, also called bruxism, can lead to a range of dental problems including tooth wear, jaw pain, headaches, and even damage to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). A dental nightguard helps to alleviate these issues by providing a cushioning effect, absorbing the forces generated during grinding or clenching and preventing direct contact between the teeth.
To obtain a dental nightguard, a dentist will take impressions of the patient’s teeth and send them to a dental laboratory for fabrication. Once the nightguard is ready, the patient can wear it while sleeping to protect their teeth and jaws. Regular cleaning and maintenance of the nightguard are essential to ensure its longevity and effectiveness. It’s a miracle I found Linglestown Family Dental. I went to many other dentist’s, the only thing they said they could do was implants or dentures. Not the case. I have crowns which I was told couldn’t be done. Well, Family Dental did and now I can finally Smile again! I am so grateful to everyone that has made this happen. They don’t just do excellent work but they also truly care about you as an individual. They are family!!

Contacted the office to schedule a cleaning and was able to get an appointment the same day. I was welcomed and treated by a very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced staff. I have known Dr Myshin for many years and have been with her through all of her locations over the years. She is very professional, very kind and caring and I highly recommend her practice. I have to especially give a shout out to Ally. She will serenade you while you are in the chair with her Alexis music and make you feel very comfortable. She also is very knowledgeable as an assistant to Dr Myshin and loves her job and does it very well. A bad filling caused the need for a root canal. A filling should never ever lead to a root canal. The team refused to take accountability even when it was made clear that the filling fell out in pieces which led to an infection that led to a root canal. It’s never necessary to have a dead tooth, it’s crazy that they acted complete innocent. 10/10 don’t recommend.

Dr. Kim and his assistant are amazing! My oral surgery was a piece of cake. From start to finish the care, compassion and expertise were incredible. After the surgery I followed their directions and had very little to no pain, mild discomfort. The following morning there was not even discomfort.
