Periodontics Dentistry

Periodontics

Periodontics is a specialized field of dentistry that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting the supporting structures of the teeth, including the gums, jawbone, and periodontal ligament. These structures are collectively referred to as the periodontium.

At Linglestown Family Dental, we are trained to treat and manage various periodontal conditions such as gingivitis (gum inflammation), periodontitis (gum disease), gum recession, and dental implant placement.

Periodontal treatment typically involves a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s oral health, including a thorough examination of the gums, teeth, and supporting bone structure.  Non-surgical treatments, such as scaling and root planing (deep cleaning), may be performed to remove plaque and tartar from the teeth and below the gumline.  Surgical interventions, such as gum grafting, bone grafting, and pocket reduction surgery, may be recommended for more advanced cases.

Our care at Linglestown Family Dental also plays a crucial role in the maintenance and long-term management of periodontal conditions, providing guidance on proper oral hygiene practices and regular follow-up visits.

By focusing on the health of the supporting structures, periodontics aims to prevent tooth loss, restore gum health, and maintain overall oral health. If you have concerns regarding your gums or suspect a periodontal condition, call us to schedule an appointment.  We can provide a comprehensive evaluation and develop a personalized treatment plan to meet your specific needs.
