Endodontic dentistry, commonly known as root canal therapy, is a branch of dentistry focused on the diagnosis and treatment of issues related to the dental pulp and tissues within the root canal of a tooth. The main objective of endodontic treatment is to save a tooth that has been severely infected or damaged by removing the infected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the root canal, and then sealing it to prevent further infection.

Endodontic treatment is typically recommended for teeth with deep decay, cracked or fractured teeth, dental trauma, or persistent dental infections.  By preserving the natural tooth, endodontic dentistry helps to maintain proper biting and chewing function and prevents the need for extraction, allowing patients to retain their natural smile and oral health.

Oral surgery, specifically tooth extraction, is a common procedure performed to remove a tooth from its socket in the jawbone.  Tooth extraction may be necessary for various reasons, including severe tooth decay, impacted wisdom teeth, dental trauma, overcrowding, or preparation for orthodontic treatment.
